Fayetteville Chiropractor | Dr. Joanna Hudec
“I decided to become a chiropractor and a shot put thrower all in the same day….”
In a 7th grade physical education class, I was taught to throw a shot put. The coach said I was throwing as far as the high school girls and kept me throwing until I couldn’t bend my wrist and it hurt to hold anything in my hand. Coach took me to see the high school trainer and my mom took me to see the pediatrician. No one could fix my wrist! I couldn’t participate in the 7th grade track meet with an injured wrist!
So my dad took me to see his chiropractor, Dr. Kyle Workman. He examined me, took an x-ray, and then adjusted my wrist. Instantly, I could bend my wrist. I was so impressed that he knew how to fix me. I felt so much better and was able to participate in the next track meet. I won my first gold medal at that track meet. On the way home from school I proclaimed to my mom, “I am going to be a shot putter and a chiropractor when I grow up!”
A Chiropractic Education
Dr. Hudec became a student-athlete at the University of Arkansas and earned a degree in Exercise Science and Biomechanics. Her experience on the track team fueled her passion to become a sports specialty chiropractor and enrolled at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1997.
After graduation in 2000, Dr. Hudec returned to her home town of Houston where she began working at Texas Chiropractic College. She was an attending physician in the outpatient clinic overseeing interns and patient care and earning additional sports educational experiences and certifications. While at TCC she was awarded an opportunity to move to Washington D.C. and earn a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Integrated Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center. This experience gained her advanced knowledge of medical procedures and integrating chiropractic into mainstream medicine.
In 2005, Dr. Hudec moved back to the Northwest Arkansas area to open a practice.
On a Personal Note…
I love the Arkansas Razorbacks! I am an active member of the Arkansas Alumni Association and was President of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter. I cheer for all Razorback teams but especially love rooting for the Lady Razorback Track & Field team. Go Hogs! I am a board member for the Hogeye Marathon. This is close to my heart and this year we gave over $36,000 to local charities and groups.
I receive regular chiropractic care as well as the rest of the Spine, Sports & Rehab Chiropractic Clinic team and my family. It makes me feel better and do my job more efficiently. I take vitamins daily and refrain from drinking soda. I am a regular walker on our community trail system where I tend to see many of our patients out enjoying.
